What is Osteotomy surgery?

  • An osteotomy is a procedure in which the bone is cut and reshaped. You may need this type of procedure to repair a damaged joint. It’s also used to shorten or lengthen a deformed bone that doesn’t line up with a joint as it should. Osteotomy is also performed in conjunction with other forms of knee surgery, such as cartilage surgery when the leg is bowed or knock-kneed.
